Rap Music Stimulating Physical Activity
Abstract
"Does rap music stimulate physical activity (sex drive,aggression, exercise) in young adults? On 3 different days, I will work at one location each (Wellness Center, Library, Porter). There will be a boom-box playing rap music ranging between old and new rap music. Subjects will be recruited at random (5 girls, 5 boys per location) and asked to fill out a survey. Subjects will answer categories of questions that are true about their musical tastes and beliefs. Quantitative data on each question will be averaged in various ways; by age, by gender, by preferred music, by location, and in total. Percentages and thematic categories will be further analyzed in order to determine any correlation between rap music and its stimulation on physical activity. Music therapy research is something that is well needed because there are many unknown effects of music. With this style of music being so popular amongst young people, certain characteristics must be analyzed in order to be further practiced in this field."
