Abstract
Music can induce emotions and in conjunction with that, bring forth autobiographical memories associated with those emotions or songs (Vuoskoski, 2012). This is attributed to the emotional connections that people make with certain songs. My research question is, Do college students have autobiographical memories influenced by songs of their parents' musical preferences? The purpose of this research study is to examine the effects of listening to music of parents' generation/preference and the strength of autobiographical memories associated with those songs in college students at Georgia College and State University. This will be a qualitative study in which I will conduct a verbal survey to see who would be willing to participate in my research and let me set up an interview. Once I find at least 10 to 12 participants, I will be interviewing them on campus and collecting data based on their responses to my questions and their shared memories.
