Abstract

A greener approach to the synthesis of trans-cinnamic was successfully carried out using DMAP and b-aniline in lieu of toxic pyridine. Due to the positive feedback, the scopes and limitations of the modified Knoevengal-Doebner Condensation reaction was applied to several aldehyde substrates, and the results are reported here.
