Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to conduct a neo-Aristotelian investigation of Elie Wiesel's 1986 acceptance address of the Nobel Peace Prize. This paper examines the following rhetorical features of the address: speaker background, purpose, audience and setting characteristics. In addition it offers an analysis of his use of the eulogy form and emotionally evocative language.
