Abstract
In this project, we developed Lafayette Park World, a Minecraft Education game and programming environment, for youth to learn programming in a socio-cultural context. Lafayette Park is a historical site of the Women's suffrage movement and a symbol of exercising First Amendment rights. Lafayette Park World gives learners opportunities to explore the Park virtually, compete to locate and identify women's suffrage protest signs and build architecture by programming on the Minecraft Education Platform. Students learn about gender equity and civic engagement, along with programming concepts. Programming in the World can be done either with blocks or in Python.
