Abstract

DnD and Me is a performance piece that focuses on the experience of the players of a traditional Dungeons and Dragons campaign. The performance centers on the human experience of the emotions that players face, as well as the way plying through a campaign continuously teaches players both about themselves and how to get through difficult situations in life. The audience will follow along as the performer goes through some small anecdotes about different challenges that have happened at both his table, and other tables. The performance then shifts to an around the table look at what effect Dungeons and Dragons has had, and continues to have on his players, and finally ending with a Q&A segment in character as the first ever character that the performer created. This section shows the amount of love, development, and emotional thought that goes into the character creation, and just how attached you begin to grow to this other person that you've spent so many hours playing.
