This was my brother's baseball jersey and his number on the team. I titled it The Wall because that was his nickname when he played back in high school.
My paintings are inspired by my brother and his passing back in 2013. I use family photos as references as well as objects that belonged to him. Each painting represents a personal memory. I have chosen to keep each painting in grayscale to emphasize memory as well as a sense of loss. In Requiem, my main title piece for this series, I have used a picture that is a memorial picture as well as kept the painting more abstract to emphasize memory. I use these techniques to express my feelings of grief for the loss of my brother but also to honor his memory.
