Abstract

This research is based on a literature review of the "active learning" method of teaching literature. The researcher examines the use of active learning for comprehension to achieve student success in an example unit focused on characterization in fairy tales and myths. This unit explores what the method might look like and which strategies were successful in the teaching of character development. This presentation will also examine the strengths and weaknesses discovered in the unit when it was taught to secondary students.
