Abstract
Learning a foreign language is a frightening prospect for most high schoolers, and the focus of this research is how to include teaching methods that will make learning a foreign language more comfortable and interesting to students in secondary grades. This research focuses on a literature review on learning vocabulary and comprehension through graphic novels that touch on modern issues in the target culture. This research examines what a unit based around a French graphic novel might look like and which strategies are a good match for this method. This presentation will also discuss what pros and cons of teaching a specific French graphic novel in a foreign language to secondary students.
