Abstract

In the United States of America, we all have rights to live as a free individual. But there are many groups of people who face discrimination and cruelty for expressing who they are, including women of the Muslim Culture. Throughout our project we hope to bring awareness to these women and show our support for their culture and beliefs. With this project we will be using community- based engaged learning as we work with the Women’s Center to make a change happen. Community- based engaged learning helps students to dive into their work and apply it to the world around them. This helps in growing connections with faculty and staff here at GCSU and make an impact in the community where we are placed. This also helps in preparing students for their life after college and taking these concepts with them to the outside world. Our research has included, reading outside sources for more information and tools for the topic and discussing these issues as a group. We plan to share our new knowledge with our community and grow a support group. We believe that our event will bring more awareness to the women in Muslim culture was face discrimination.
