Abstract
This research focuses on using literary lenses or literary theory to read and interpret Shakespeare’s Macbeth. By using literary lenses, students will gain perspective not only on reading and seeing the ideology portrayed in the world of the text but also in their own world. Students will be exposed to multiple perspectives and alternate ways of reading a text based on the usage of various literary lenses, which include psychoanalysis, feminism, Marxist theory, New criticism, and Reader Response theory. When literary lenses are implemented in the secondary classroom as tools to view the world, a text is transferred from an object to a microcosm of society and culture.
